What is a Corrugated Box Stitching Machine and How it works?

A corrugated box stitching machine is a piece of equipment used in the packaging industry to stitch together the flaps or edges of corrugated cardboard boxes. These machines are commonly used in factories or facilities where large volumes of boxes need to be sealed quickly and efficiently.

  • - Available in arm length of 20″, 30″, 36″, 42″, 48″ and 60″
  • - Adjustable feed upto 5/16″ (8 mm), 1/2″ (14 mm).
  • - Speed upto 300 stitches per minute.
The Straight stitching machine for the corrugated boxes is suitable where stitching flap size is less than 1″. The crown of the stitch size can be of 3/8″, 1/2″ and 5/8″.

Here's how a typical corrugated box stitching machine works:

Feeding the Box: The process starts with feeding the pre-folded and glued corrugated cardboard boxes into the machine. These boxes typically have their flaps open and ready for stitching.

Positioning: The machine positions the box so that the flaps that need to be stitched together are aligned properly.

Stitching Mechanism: The stitching mechanism of the machine consists of multiple stitching heads or needles. These needles are usually equipped with sharp points and threads.

Stitching Process: Once the box is positioned correctly, the stitching mechanism moves into action. The needles pierce through the overlapping flaps of the cardboard box, creating a series of stitches that hold the flaps together securely. The stitching process is usually rapid, allowing for high throughput.

Trimming and Finishing: After the stitching is complete, some machines may have additional mechanisms for trimming excess thread and ensuring a neat finish.

Output: The stitched boxes are then discharged from the machine, ready to be stacked, packed, or further processed as needed.

Corrugated box stitching machines come in various sizes and configurations, depending on the specific requirements of the packaging operation. They are often used in conjunction with other equipment, such as box folding and gluing machines, to automate the entire packaging process and increase efficiency.
